Our History

Formed in 1916, Sayreville Engine Company #1 is joined by President Park, Morgan and Melrose fire companies to compose the Sayreville Fire Department. This 100% volunteer organization protects the nearly 19 square miles and roughly 44,000 residents, responding to approximately 900 calls town wide annually.

Our Mission

Sayreville Engine Company primary response area covers both residential and commercial properties throughout lower Sayreville. This area spans from Winding Woods apartment complex through Main Street Townhomes, as well as all areas from Washington Rd through Deerfield Rd.

When a general alarm is toned out, Engine Company #1 will respond to any part of the town to aid our sister fire companies. Engine Company also responds to mutual aid calls out of town to areas such as New Brunswick, South River, and Spotswood. Our company consists of roughly 40 members, 3 suppression apparatus, 3 support vehicles, and 1 fire boat.
